The House and Facilities

Built in 1508 and set within 550 acres of walled Park, Althorp has been the home of the Spencer family for 500 years. The magnificent reception and dining rooms display an outstanding and extensive collection of pictures, furniture and ceramics, which provide a stunning backdrop for offsite meetings, conferences and receptions

# Spencer family from Spencer House.

The house has a variety of rooms, which can be flexibly used to accommodate corporate needs: seating 30 people for a small group meeting in the elegant Great Room, 120 for a formal dinner in the State Dining Room (which is modelled on the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace) and up to 120 people for a conference presentation in the impressive Picture Gallery. There can be few other venues that can offer such versatility, amid such splendour. click here

In the Park there are two marquee sites, one in the Deer Park, which can be adjoined to the house and one by the ornamental dog pond with views to the beautiful stable block. Both sites can accommodate large marquees, which can take up to 1,000 people for a reception and dinner.
There are 7 formal State bedrooms available for overnight stays associated with client events. There are also a number of bedrooms of a less formal size and décor, available to meet demand for larger numbers.

Despite the obvious grandeur and history of the surroundings, Althorp is essentially a family home, which exudes warmth and comfort. Available only on an exclusive basis, guests are made to feel very welcome and all events are planned with great expertise and professionalism.

Gardens and Lake

Much of Althorp's charm derives from the sheer beauty of its setting. The House is set in 450 acres of idyllic park, much of which has remained unaltered over the past 500 years.

Stables and Exhibition

The Architectural simplicity and elegance of the iron stone stable block is greatly admired by connoisseurs. Constructed of Northamptonshire ironstone to house 100 horses and 40grooms, it's Palladian grandeur stands in sharp contrast to the austere grey mansion House.

The Collection

The House contains a fascinating variety of furniture, ceramics as well as one of the finest collections of portraiture in the world.
